First Day of the Rest of My Life
So how did I spent my first 24 hours of freedom?
Driving 2 hours each way to talk about flowers and cakes at Daughter's wedding venue. At least I got a great lunch out of the deal.

Home For Good
I got home last night at 7 with a truck full of stuff.
This is the last time I come in this door carrying my work gear. I'm done.
I got plenty of loot from my customers and a tearful congratulations from my 91 year old mom who lives only a few blocks from the post office. I checked on her everyday either coming from or going to work . I assured her I would still be around, only this time I can stay a while longer.

The Last Morning
I set my alarm for the last time last night. I'm unplugging the bastard when I get home.
Yesterday I brought home all my personal stuff from my case.
This morning I headed out the door with mixed emotions.
I'm happy not to have to deal with the job and the miserable commute but I will miss the good people on my route and my great co-workers. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life and lucky me, I get to drive two hours each way to go pick flowers and cake from the wedding vendors.

The Last Goodbye
My work buddies threw me a little farewell get together last night.
We took over a room at the Italian Inn in Hyattsville.
Many of my friends have retired before me and assure me it will be alright.
You couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with.
They made 37 years seem like nothing.
Keep in Touch.

A Polar Bear Plunge
New Year's Day in our little beach town is a real event.
There is no better way to usher in a new year than by a quick-very quick dip in 32 degree bay water.
Before you begin it is important to have the spirit. A goofy outfit helps.
Whoooo......it was COLD.
After it was all said and done I took my time getting dressed in spite of a bad case of the shivers. I wanted to make sure everyone knew I was a swimmer and not just a watcher.
The organizers had marshmallows to roast over the fire pit and hot cocoa waiting.
Even Elvis took a dip.
