Window Nation

 

 At almost exactly 9 am, the first of two crews from Window Nation showed up to put in our new windows and sliding glass doors.
 

 

 In no time at all we had a house full of windows waiting to be put in.

 While they were getting set up I made sure everything was right. It was.

 I gave them a hand by removing all the old storm windows and screens. I like to keep busy.

 Soon we were seeing a lot of this. They were extremely efficient. I couldn't believe how fast they worked.

 By noon the other crew had arrived with the big bay window.

 The old one was taken apart piece by piece.

 I was really interested in how all this was done and the crew was nice enough to let me see what they were doing up close. I got a good education.

 The hole that was left behind looked enormous.

 After a bit of leveling, the new window was ready to be put into place. They made it look effortless.

 Out in the driveway they had set up a work place to custom make all the aluminum that was to cap off the windows and doors. The amount of detail they went to was unexpected but very appreciated.

 The sliding glass doors were the next to be done and they also went in without a problem.

 By 4:00 all that was left was the clean up. They left the place spotless and hauled away all the old windows.

I was sorry to see them go. I had a great time. I learned a lot about window installation and had fun trading jokes with the guys. I won't be needing windows or doors anytime soon but I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

 Now all that's left is to take off the stickers....

....and put all the stuff back up on the windows.

 That's too bad because these windows are really too pretty to hide.

House Warming

 Daughter and Son in Law invited the family over to see their new house. The house I have been working my butt off to get ready for the big day. Don't even ask me how long I had to wait for the new counter top to show up on Friday.

 I enjoyed every minute mouthful of the celebration.

 I like anything off the grill.

 Even vegetables.

 It was the day after Mom's 94th birthday so we had cake.

We also had plenty of new family members to meet for the first time. A new house and new babies-those kids of ours are doing all right.

A Day to Remember

 Our little beach town has outdone itself this Memorial Day weekend.

 In addition to lots of events in town, they offered up an award for the most patriotic decorated yard or business.

 Everyone seemed to get in on the contest.

 Red, white and blue was everywhere. I wonder if they will leave it up through the 4th of July?

 Back at home, we burned stuff up on the grill.

 Veggies for Her.

Brats for me. The weather was cold, too cold for Memorial Day. There was no one at the water park or on the beach but it was a perfect day for a fire.

Summer Preview

The Friday Farmer's Market and Cruise In has already begun for the season.

There was plenty to look at....

.

...and plenty to eat. It's a great way to start the weekend.

Hole in One

 It was on the 8th hole that I hit the ball that would become my first ever hole in one.

 I was at Mellomar Golf Park in Owings playing all by myself. I did take a photo of my ball in the hole and called Her so I would have a witness.

It took me an hour to calm down.

Sheep and Wool Day

She drug me out of bed at the crack of dawn to drive two hours to spend hundreds of dollars on stuff she has to bring home and wash and for some reason, I am ok with that.

 As we do every first weekend in May, we spent the day at the MDSW.

 She can't move very fast anymore but you should see her sprint all the way across the fairgrounds to beat everyone else to the best fleece. She had me looking for a Merino this year and that was easy seeing I'm a Miami Dolphins fan.

 I found her two. This is why she brings me along. We have to carry them all the way back to the car and it is uphill.

While loading them, I got to admire the wax job I did on the car.

We made the rounds of vendors and then it was time for food.

My favorite part is all the petting you get to do on animals that you don't have to feed or pay the vet bills for.

 By one o'clock, I am wishing I had worn some other shoes.

The sheep dog exhibition takes my mind off my misery.

I love these dogs...

...and for some reason they seem to love me.

I came home with a new hat.

I was tempted by the tee shirts but I would only spill coffee on it.

After a trip through the animal barns, I was hungry again.

I had a lamb burger. Yeah, I know but they smell so good.

 The last stop is always to pick up a new addition to the shade garden.

 I am running out of room so I picked something small this year.

Now for that long walk back to the car. We are not moving so fast anymore. Neither is anyone else. It's been a long day.

The good news is I'll be watching golf tomorrow while She makes another trip up to buy more stuff she doesn't need.The bad news is that we have to wait another year to do this all again.

Back Where I Belong

Daughter and Son in Law vacated my man cave a week or so ago to move into their first house and since then I have done little else but clean or fix things. I split my time between working here, working at their new house and helping my mom. I've even had to pitch in and help Her with Her dad's yard lately. Who said retirement is for sissys?

Ahhhh.....it's been a long time good buddy. I didn't get to make a fire all winter so I've got plenty of wood for next year.

Having all this empty space to fill is making me want to organize the crap I do have, so I took a trip to Ikea for ideas.

One cabinet and one chest of drawers later-and I will have a place to store all my tools. No more climbing under the stairs for me. These old bones need a break.
