Big Balls

Big trees need big balls.

Holiday Shopping

Every Christmas the family drags me to Homestead Gardens.



While they shop for things to hang on the tree, I have to entertain myself.




Luckily for me there is a lot of things to do and lots of places to sit and drink a cup of coffee. They leave me pretty much alone until it is time to pay.

Special Night

It was date night at Bowie Town Center to do some Christmas shopping. Those lights through the windshield are the big tree. She remembered she had her camera just as we were leaving.

Tree Trimming Time

This year we needed a ladder to put up the Christmas tree. When I say up, I mean way up-out of the reach of very bad cats.



Two trees in one day.



It takes a lot of work and know how.



And lots of little hooks.

It's Time

Someone had their pre-retirement conference this week. Now I need a hat that will let everyone know my days are numbered.

Good Night

Look what I brought home from work today.



Someone had too much of a good thing and was willing to share.



First I got a fire going.



Then I started shucking.



A little hot sauce goes a long way.



I don't do this everyday so I had to make due with what I have. It was all good.

Up on the Rooftop 2010

Aside from a couple of blown fuses, this year's lights went up pretty smoothly.



I did have to rummage around a bit to find the things you screw into the light fixture. I need to remember to put them all in one place when the lights come down.



We had new lights for the back. Stringing them along the back door was tricky as they had so much kink in them from the box.
The new front window lights were a fail because SHE doesn't know the difference between cool white and warm white. Cool white makes the front of the house look like an all-night check cashing place. They are going straight back to Walmart this afternoon. I want my $11.99 back.

How I Spent My Sunday

I hate leaves.



Mowing leaves.



Raking leaves.



Blowing leaves.



And there is still this many left on the *#@&! trees.



Every Thanksgiving I swear I am going to tell everybody to bring one of these. If you want me to feed you, you have to fill up a tarp or two.

Fire!

I waited until November 1st to start my first fire of the year. I couldn't get any wood chopped over the summer because of my hernia surgery. Next week I return to work and I will also have the all clear from the doc to get busy with the ax

It's that time of year again.



If you want to make a fire you have to clean out the chimney.

How To Kill an Umbrella

I looks like I am taking apart the lawn furniture for winter storage but in reality I am trying to figure out how to create a rain proof spot underneath the deck. For the cats.



I killed the umbrella when it got caught in the gutter and it snapped right off the pole. That poor umbrella has been through a lot but this time it's done. Really done. SHE'S pretty mad.

Kitty Gym

I know I have been home too long when I find myself hanging cat toys from trees so the feral cats will have something to play with. I should also mention I bought the toys. I need a job.

Online At Last

During my long recovery SHE dug out some unused computer parts and set me up on Facebook and Twitter. I am also now able to handle email and so can manage my own football pool without HER help. Almost.

A Big Ouch

This is more information than you probably need but I just had to share. Never mind the lost belly hair, I want to show off this new type of bandage that lets you take a shower. The white gauze is covered with a big clear patch that keeps the water out. I was never a big fan of sponge baths, so this is the best thing ever.

My next adventure is hernia surgery on the 15th. It's always something.

Father of the Bride to Be

Uhhhhh.........that look on my face says it all.



Planning a wedding is a real headache. Everyone has something to say. That's too much input.



Bride to Be is having fun going over the details at the venue but all I'm thinking about is needing a tape measure.

My 6 Day Week

Another heat wave on the way and 6 whole days of work ahead of me.
What the hell, it's nothing that a mixed drink and a good cigar won't fix.

Big Bones

I have two Rottweilers on my route that are always glad to see me. I want to keep it that way since these days I am too lame to run.

Ouch

I have been working 10 hour days so whenever I don't have to be on my feet I am on the couch with that knee elevated. It hurts like hell but the overtime is too good to pass up.

Just Because

Everybody else gave HER a retirement gift except me. I thought about a new TV but believe it or not SHE wanted a new little sissy mower. I wouldn't be caught dead pushing around this little thing but SHE loves it.

In the Rough

Some people get golfer's elbow, I get lacerations. I need to find a way to keep the ball out of the bushes.

Back to Work

Vacation is over. I may not be happy tomorrow morning but I'm going to look good.

Inception

We see one movie a year and whenever SHE picks a movie with a one word title, i.e. Atonement, I always worry. This one, however, wasn't too bad. The price was ridiculous though. The 12:20 matinee was $17 for the two of us. No popcorn, no soda. All for the pleasure of being crammed in a too small chair with no leg room next to a total stranger for two uncomfortable hours. And the worst part is that it made me realize how old I'm getting. The damn thing was too loud.
