Ta Da!

The first pumpkin of the year was ready to be picked. Now what am I going to do with it? It's too early for carving.

My New Favorite Place

It's been too hot to do much of anything but lay around in the AC and read all day. Books are expensive and then there is the question of what to do with them when you are done. The answer is to get a library card. Now I get 3 weeks to finish a book. I can do it in 3 days-or less.

Pumpkin, Pumpkin

The pumpkin vines have grown all over the place. They especially like the neighbor's yard.

One is getting very orange already.

One is still yellow.

And one is green. As long as we get one in October, I'll be happy.

Hot Tamale

We made salsa from the stuff we had in the garden today while we were watching the final game of the Women's World Cup.

We grew everything except for the lime and onion. It was really good. The best thing is that we have plenty more stuff that can be turned into salsa. We just need more chips.

Good and Plenty

The little garden is putting out so much produce we can't keep up with eating it.

Every other day we are getting a colander full of veggies.

We also have some melons starting to appear. This is a watermelon.

This is a cantaloupe.

There are pumpkins popping up all over as well.

This year we have had only two puny pole beans show up. It is too hot against the greenhouse. Next year the beans will have to be moved.

Another dinner's worth of organic veggies are ready to go. Mmmm, mmmm good!

Independence Day 2011

Golf, crabs family and fireworks-what a great way to spend the day.

Happy 4th of July!
