Early Harvest

Things are just starting to be able to be picked from the garden. The bugs did a lot of damage this year but we have been able to save a few things.  The green beans have produced quite a lot and when they ripen, we will have a ton of small tomatoes. We are still waiting for the cucumbers to appear. Last year we had more than we could deal with, this year we haven't even seen the promise of one.

The kale has been producing steadily since we put it in last fall. The bugs take a nibble or two but do not eat it to the ground like they did the other greens. Making kale chips is not the healthiest way of eating it but it sure is good.

Father's Day 2012

My girls took me to Top Golf in Alexandria again this year for their Father's Day event. We went last year and loved it.

We arrived early so while waiting I did some warming up in the parking lot.

Daughter #1 brought her pink clubs. You got to love those girly clubs.

Daughter #2 surprised me with a handmade card. Who is that hairy guy in the middle of those cute little girls?

They gave us 40 balls each to hit and two hours to do so. We didn't get to finish our game because we ran out of time. They shooed us all out rather abruptly to fit in the 1:00 reservations.

One problem is that the Father's Day package included a buffet which took time away from the game. It all looks good on paper but it was a very rushed and uncomfortable affair. We weren't the only ones having a problem with the schedule. Some people never even got to eat. We won't be doing this again next year.

The food wasn't as good as last year's either. Standard cookout stuff.

Next year we will skip the Father's Day package and just come as regular customers on another Sunday. You will get much better treatment-and food that way

Light Show

It's funny how the simplest of things become fascinating when you don't have much to do all day.

I get the biggest kick out of setting up the outdoor lights everyday so we get new patterns on the sidewalk each night.

Moving Day

Daughter rented a 17 foot moving fan and asked me to drive it to her house so we could spend the day packing it up.

She and Hubby are moving tomorrow and the more we got done today, the less we would have to do in the morning.

We jammed stuff in pretty tight but the big stuff is still to come.

The good news is that tomorrow we will have more help. The bad news is that the elevator is not working.

It's always something.

Hooked

My hooked rug project is done. I managed to get everything I wanted into the design and more.

You can see the design more clearly from the back. I like the way this looks. I just may have to get into some needlepoint next.
