The Music Man

Mom has hinted around about me moving my crates of albums out of her basement.

 I had a hard time convincing Her that they needed to be in our basement. I pulled out a few to prove my case and she was sold.

We spent the afternoon going down memory lane.

We don't have the exact same taste in music but there is plenty of common ground.

Not only do I have about 750 albums but I also have about 420 45's.

It was a good thing I still have some of these laying around.

One of my prize possessions is this red J. Geils album....

...and this yellow Grand Funk Railroad album.

Guess what we did all afternoon. Scratches and all, they all sounded pretty good.
Everyone is invited to a party at my house.
Bring your own booze and smoke.

To the Rescue

It was a very hot day. It has also been very dry.



Out in the middle of the sun baked, parched yard, I saw this fellow trying to make its way through the tall grass. Not good.



A few yards away we have cool shady creek so I made an interception and sent him off in another direction. At least he wasn't on the highway.

A Birthday Celebration

The kids took me to Top Golf for my birthday.




We all had lots of fun swinging at balls for several hours.



Having a few of these strawberry mint sangrias or a few cold beers helped get everyone in the mood for fun. The waiters make sure you have whatever you need.



The place is awesome.



The food is amazing. We had plenty to go around for about $80 including drinks.



A computer keeps your score so competition gets fierce once you figure out how the game is played.



Everyone has to hit their computerized balls into the giant holes that dot the field to earn maximum points. A bucket of 20 balls is only $5 so you get plenty of time and plenty of balls to perfect your technique.



Then there were cupcakes....it was a very happy birthday. Thanks everybody!

My Day

It's my birthday. The kids are taking me to Top Golf today. I'd like to think of something funny to say about it but turning 58 isn't making me feel much like joking.

As a surprise, She updated the list of the blogs I follow (below, right hand corner) so that I have some guy things to read instead of fashion or knitting.

Uncovered

The row covers had to come off because the kale was beginning to bolt from the heat. In early April. Just a few miles north it was snowing today. It's been a weird spring.

Liquid Fusion

One of the kids just returned from a trip to China to meet his new bride's parents. His new father in law must be quite a character. If you can tell a man by what he drinks this guy must be dynamite because that is the liquid equivalent to an explosion in that bottle he sent me. The Chairman Mao lighter was also a nice touch. I just better not use it too close to the booze.

Happy Easter!

I look forward to dyeing eggs every year.



This year the dye was pretty terrible. We followed the directions on the box but the colors wouldn't stick on the eggs.



After a lot of dipping, this is the best we could do. Next year we are going to try another brand. Paas, you let me down.

It's Been a Zoo Around Here

The kids all flew off to holiday destinations that did not include their pets.



We ended up babysitting a houseful this week.



Needless to say our holiday plans were changed a bit by marauding cats and chewing puppies. We have been on round the clock sentry duty to keep the place in one piece. One more day. One more day. One more day...............
